Hillary Hoppe, at home

News

She was born and raised in St. Helena. She obtained her BSN at Boise State University. While employed as a nurse and gaining experience in several specialties within the hospital, she started working towards her graduate degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. At MUSC she obtained a Masters of Science in Nursing and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. She currently lives in St. Helena and works as a family nurse practitioner.

The perfect profession

When applying for college, I debated between a nursing or business fashion degree. I have always had a passion for science. Our body is an incredible machine and I find it very intriguing as to how it operates. Ultimately, it was the right decision to pursue a medical career. It's very rewarding to be able to assist patients through their health care journey.

“I feel as a Nurse Practitioner I am continuously gaining knowledge from both the evolving medical field and also from my patients.”

At home

During graduate school, I returned to Napa Valley to finish my clinical rotations. After achieving my degree, I had the privilege of accepting a Nurse Practitioner position in a local primary care office. It was always my hope to return home and pursue my career.

There is something very unique about knowing the interworking and priorities of this special community and the people that live here. Many of my patients may remember me growing up, even back to the days of dancing in my pink tutu at concerts in the park.

“I believe it is comforting for a patient to know I have local roots.”

Serving the local community

I’m here to serve this community that I grew up in. I encourage patients to make appointments not when feeling sick but also for preventative care.

Keeping up to date with one’s health maintenance is such an essential part of primary care and overall well-being. I am happy to help them with whatever they may need, from preventative medicine, managing chronic conditions, helping with acute illness and beyond.

“I’ve definitely come full circle now working in and giving back to the community that raised me.”
