Baby girl makes her New Year’s debut in Hanford

News

HANFORD – The team at Adventist Health Hanford’s Birth Center helped welcome Kings County’s first baby of the year at 2:28 a.m. on January 1, 2022.

Baby “Elizabeth Daniela” was delivered naturally by mom Daniela of Hanford. She weighs 9.7 pounds and is 20 ½ inches in length.

“We are pretty grateful to have a New Year’s baby,” says Daniela whose daughter was given her first name as her middle name. “Our 3-year-old son, Alex, wanted his sister to be named after me, since he was named after his dad.”

Parents and babyThe name Elizabeth also has special meaning. Mom and dad wanted their daughter to have a biblical name, since they are of Christian faith, and decided on Elizabeth, which means “Helped by God.”

Baby Elizabeth did require a little help entering the world. She was supposed to arrive on December 26, 2021, so to speed up her arrival, Daniela decided to run some errands on December 30. She was shopping at Wal-Mart when she felt her water break.

“We stopped at my mother-in-law’s house since my water hadn’t fully broke, and she told us we should go straight to the Birth Center,” says Daniela.

A little over 24-hours later, Elizabeth was welcomed into the world by her parents with the help of Dr. Sayed Basel, OB-GYN, and delivery nurse Thania Benitez.

This was Daniela’s first time delivering at the Hanford Birth Center.

“It was a great experience. Everyone was polite and nice, and the Birth Center is roomy and really nice. I feel really happy and thankful to God,” says Daniela.

Adventist Health gifted mom and dad with a diaper bag and a $100 Target gift card.
