News

FOWLER – Adventist Health is pleased to announce the addition of Milena Lopes Cavalcante, MD, to the medical staff. She is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible in rheumatology and provides diagnosis and treatment for patients with musculoskeletal disease and autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout and osteoarthritis.

Dr. Cavalcante knew she had found her calling because of an experience in medical school. “I was particularly inspired by mentors who practiced in the public healthcare system of Brazil, caring for those most in need,” she said.

She earned her medical degree from the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and finished her postdoctoral training in Boston. Here she completed her internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center and fellowship in rheumatology at Tufts Medical Center. While at Tufts, she also attended the university’s Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, receiving certification in clinical and translational science.

Dr. Cavalcante is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and has published her work in peer-reviewed journals and presented frequently. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese plus proficient in French.

When not caring for patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their children.

Dr. Cavalcante is accepting new patients and may be reached at Adventist Health – Fowler located at 300 S. Leon S. Peters Blvd., with a phone number of 559-834-1614.
