3D mammography technology available to patients in Reedley

REEDLEY – Patients in eastern Fresno County who need diagnostic mammography services now have the latest and most advanced technology available to them at the Adventist Health Reedley Imaging Center.

The 3Dimensions Mammography System, considered the fastest, highest resolution breast tomosynthesis system currently available in the medical imaging industry, was launched at the medical center on May 28. The system is designed to provide higher quality 3D breast screenings, while simultaneously providing patients with a more comfortable mammography experience. Compared to 2D mammograms, the system assists radiologists in detecting 20%-65% more invasive breast cancers, regardless of age or breast density.

“We are constantly in search of the most innovate tools to aid our patient care,” says Clint Watson, director of imaging services at Adventist Health in the Central Valley. “With the addition of 3D mammography, our radiologists are equipped with the best technology to help identify breast cancers at an early stage and give patients a greater chance at survival.”

Some of the features and benefits of the 3Dimensions Mammography System include:

  • 3.7 second scan time – for reduced patient motion, fewer retakes and increased patient comfort.
  • Improved visibility of fine details for greater diagnostic confidence.
  • SmartCurve Breast Stabilization to mirror the shape of the breast and apply uniform compression.
  • The only mammogram FDA approved as superior for women with dense breasts compared to 2D mammograms alone.
  • Ability for radiologists to conduct fast, efficient exams and accelerate reading time to streamline workflow.

In addition to the installation of the 3Dimensions Mammography System, other renovations at the Imaging Center include new flooring, paint, furniture and décor.
