When God tells you to go
Earlier this year, Adventist Health Tillamook sent five employees to Sierra Leone, Africa, to train chaplains, teach therapists and provide care. Remember the story of Tamba who was confined to his bed at Waterloo Hospital after a spinal injury? The Adventist Health team worked with Tamba’s therapists and caregivers to improve his quality of life and help him become more independent. But that’s not all they did during the trip.
Danny Parada, chaplain and spiritual care director at Adventist Health Tillamook, trained chaplains at the hospital and worked to create a sense of belonging among the spiritual care givers at Waterloo. “This is what brings us together, you know. This is what helps us to build belonging,” says Parada. “Spending time together, I think that’s what God wants.”
